PCS dinner, TMO crap, Airline tickets and Mrs. Top Gun loses it...

This is what Mrs. Top Gun's Hot Dog looked like...

And these are Mr. Top Gun's Hot dogs...

Ok, I know- I have fallen off the face of the earth for these past few days, so I thought I would attempt to bring you up to speed on what the HELL has been going on in the world of Mr. and Mrs. Top Gun... First, let it be known that I, am not a huge fan of hot dogs. Never was as a kid, still aren't as an adult. But, Mr. Top Gun loves them- especially his chili cheese ones. My enormous hot dog with nothing on it is just funny looking! Mr. Top Gun thought I should be the one eating the LONG WEENIE... haha... what a character he is. For the record, I only put mustard on my hot dog, and as you can tell from the photo, Mr. Top Guns hot dogs are ridiculous, and the cheese and chili were actually falling out of them as he ate them! I made a pasta salad to accompany the meal, as well as baked beans. Please excuse the PAPER PLATES. Yes, I know they are super KLASSY! Don't be jealous of them. Our home is in disarray right now, boxes are all over and our red fiesta dishware has been packed already.

Today is only Wednesday, and we have been running around the base trying to get everything in order for our soon to be PCS. Monday we went to TMO to speak to a "counselor," who ironically was NOT in the office. Typical right? We get our required paperwork filled out, approved, stamped and Mr. Top Gun goes into his Squadron to say hello. I, got to sit in the car while some idiotic new people attempted to figure out who the hell he was... I understand he wears different flight patches, and that his wings don't look as 'bright' as everyone else's (Special Ops patches are subdued, so people really have to look hard to see them) *Awesome?* YES. Me watching him have to run around like crazy, and being a bit helpless?? Not so fun. We manage to schedule an appt. for 0800 the next day for our briefing with TMO. I don't do ANYTHING before 1000, and getting up today was HELL. I get dressed, and am just ready to put on my lipstick and his phone rings. Guess who? TMO needs to re-schedule the appt. to later in the day- much later, and this didn't sit right with me. Why? a 20 minute 'courtesy call' is crap. At this point, I've been up since 0600, showered, dressed and made Mr. Top Gun breakfast, so I am not the happiest person at this time.

So, I went back to bed and Mr. Top Gun went into the Squadron for like 20 minutes. He later joined me in a nice, long nap until our crappy briefing. Fast forward to after the briefing now... I am exhausted, thirsty, hungry, and I just want to get home. We get home and it hits me: We are leaving really, really soon for an overseas assignment and I am holding the ticket confirmation for our flights. Cue the tears, pacing around the house and then an all out *BREAK DOWN* I lost it tonight and turned into a messy, bawling bag of tears. And I mean the type of tears that come with the ugliest cry you can imagine. Thank goodness we had my Nana and Grandpa here with us- or I would have been committed tonight. Then, my Mom calls. She starts crying and I hear my Dad crying in the background. Great. Then guess what? Mr. Top Gun's Mom calls him and she is crying! In all, today was the day this PCS really hit me, and I just couldn't hold it in anymore. PCS'ing sucks, and moving away from your family for a few years hurts like hell. So, for those of you near your family and friends right now: Love them with all your heart and soul, spend as much time with them as you can. Because a PCS changes everything with the blink of an eye.

Your questions answered!

Here they are! Mrs. Top Gun answers your questions...

Jacylann Nix said...

How many children do you plan on having?

Answer: Mr. and Mrs. Top Gun plan on having one child... for now. We would love to have a boy and a girl, and I'm pretty sure we shall end up with two, but honestly? I can only handle one for now! I want a boy, Mr. Top Gun wants a boy and he jokes that if I don't have a boy, he is going to go on an 18 year deployment, because a girl will be just like me- and Mrs. Top Gun is a little high maintenance!

& what is the "theme" or color scheme of your house?
jsut curious :)

Answer: Well, our 'house' is in boxes and all over the place right now. But, I decorate with these colors: Reds, Blacks, muted golds, chocolate browns, pewters... Our bathroom is decorated with chocolates and goldish colors. Our bedroom has reds and blacks, and the bedspread changes with the season! Think a french boudoir type room- very chic and elegant, very classy. My kitchen is black and red, with granite countertops. However, I get to decorate all over again when we move into our *yet to be found* home in Japan! We have some gorgeous homes we are looking at, and I am so excited to get to decorate again! Our dining room table is a round, black rod iron set- Texas influence here :) I love hanging art on the walls, and our various tables in our home (s) always have pictures on them. I'll post pictures of our new home once we get settled in!

What is one thing that get's on your nerves that Mr Top Gun does?

Answer: Mr. Top Gun is a HORRIBLE sleeper. He does what I call "karate kicks," in his sleep. Once his head hits the pillow, he's out! Thus, begins his kicking. He literally KICKS his legs around as if he were competing in a martial arts competition, and then he kicks his legs over towards me, then his legs kick up in the air... I don't get it, and I have just learned to deal with it! I give him a nudge (ok, sometimes a little punch) and tell him to stop kicking, but he just looks at me and says this every time: "Whatever. Be quiet and go to sleep!" So, I sleep with a Ninja at night, and I have been punched and kicked before during one of his 'fights.'

How did you guys meet?

Answer: I met Mr. Top Gun on an Air Force Base. He happened to be walking through the BX, after getting a haircut and I was there to get an Iced Tea from the food court. I literally RAN into him. I looked up and saw the most breathtaking blue starry eyes, gazing back at me. I know it sounds cheesy, but it happened like that! We exchanged numbers and spoke for a bit, and then we both left. He had to get back to his Squadron and I needed to catch my heart. I waited for what felt like eons for him to call, and he did. The very next day, he called to ask me out to dinner- and told me to pick the place *never a good idea with me, since I like my expensive restaraunts* We met for dinner a few days later, and when I drove up to the restaraunt, I thought I was going to faint when I saw him standing outside, his hands in his pockets just looking like a little lost puppy dog! That dinner was it for me. I knew he was the one, and I wasn't going to let him get away!
Mr. Top Gun was so nervous, that he barely ate his dinner. I, on the otherhand devoured my entree and side salad. After dinner, I asked him if he would like to have a drink with me, and he said yes. Our dinner and drinks ended up with the two of us making out beside my new car for 4 hours!! Yes, that long. When he kissed me, my legs went numb and Mr. Top Gun said he heard me go 'oh!' I did say that, and from that moment on we were inseperable. We saw one another every day and night, until eventually one rainy evening I received a key from him. He asked me to move in with him, and said he wanted his place to feel like home for me too. Now, Mr. Top Gun had just moved into the most GORGEOUS luxury condo, so I was more than glad to decorate it! I moved out of my apt. and in with him the next week. We lived together for a year, he proposed to me before he knew he was going to his next flight school phase, and we got married a month after he proposed!

Did you guys ever think about ending it because of the Air Force crap that can happen?

Answer: We had a serious talk about our future when we first met, and he asked me if I knew what I was getting myself into. I suppose growing up in the Air Force, I was used to the life and it wasn't a big deal to me. Mr. Top Gun just felt bad that he was taking me away from Law School, Home, family and friends, and he merely wanted to ensure I was going to be ok with this life. My answer was YES! So, we never thought of ending our relationship because of what the Air Force may throw at us, we knew we had a love that most people search for and never find- and we weren't going to let it go.

Can we have a timeline for Baby Top Gun??

Answer: Baby Top Gun is a *sparkle* in Mrs. Top Gun's eyes right now. So, I would say that ya'll can expect an announcement of a little Top Gun about 6-8 months after we get to Japan. The announcement meaning "I'm knocked up," not little Top Gun is here. But, things change and if it happens sooner, we are ok with that!

What are you looking forward to about your next duty station?

Answer: I am looking forward to the culture, the people, the gorgeous beaches with turquoise clear water, sushi *until baby top gun is made* more food, shopping and traveling!

What's your fave smell?

Answer: Mrs. Top Gun's fave smell is my Grandpa's cologne. It's comforting to me, and makes me feel at home. My Grandpa ROCKS, and he is the most important thing to me aside from Mr. Top Gun and my Nana.

Do you like to bake? If so can you share your fave dish?

Answer: I LOVE TO BAKE! I'm always asked to bring one of my many baked goods to family gatherings or gatherings with friends, and I am more than happy to oblige!
Here is one of my all time favorite recipes:

*Texas Dump Cake*

The cake mix and the pats of butter on top creates a very rich and decadent crust which is very much like that of a crust you may find on a Brown Betty or a Cobbler. In Texas, you can't eat your dump cake without a BIG OL' scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream! If you can find Blue Bell where you live, then you have the perfect acoutremont to this delicious cake.

1 box of yellow or white cake mix. *Make sure you get a mix with pudding in it*
1 can chopped pineapple * I use Dole*
1 can cherry pie filling
1-2 sticks of butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 350°. In a 13X9 baking pan pour in your cherry pie filling and pineapple. Give it a good mix, but not too much. Pour dry cake mix over fruit, completely covering fruit. Slice butter into thin slices and place over cake mixture. Your butter slices need to 'touch,' so make sure they are lined up nicely!
Bake for 1 hour until the top is golden and browned. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Do you like Starbucks?

Answer: I don't drink coffee- yuck. But, I love Starbucks for their iced tazo teas (unsweetened, of course) and I love their baked goods and hot chocolate!

Whats one thing your crave and have to have no matter what??

Answer: Mrs. Top Gun craves sushi all the time, and I could eat it everyday! Mr. Top Gun thinks I'm weird for this, but he deals with it. When I get pregnant, I think I am going to go crazy! Then, I can just eat my pickles :)

Here is what the Top Gun's did today...

We went to a family barbeque!! A good ol' Mexican family barbeque, complete with the BEST food ever. Mr. Top Gun was so happy to just be home and have some delicious food. And in case you are wondering, Mrs. Top Gun is a little mixed girl... German and Hispanic, speaks German fluently- doesn't look it. I look Hispanic, and people think I'm crazy when I mention the German in me. Here in the picture is: My Mom, Aunt V, My Nana, My Grandpa, Mrs. Top Gun and Mr. Top Gun.

Mr. Top Gun wants everyone to know he thinks he looks horrible in this picture, and that he looks like a giant. Well, I think he looks handsome and he does happen to be 6 foot 1... We had an awesome time, and now we are off to spend some quality movie time together! I'll answer your questions tomorrow... I promise!

Dear So and So,

I found this awesome blog a few minutes ago, and what she does CRACKS me up! Here is a link to the blog:http://3bedroombungalow.blogspot.com/

Dear So and So...

So, She writes what she calls Dear, So and So letters. They rock. I signed up to write one today, so here is my letter:

Dear @sshole who lives down the street,

Why do you think it is ok to drive your old, piece of crap white Ford Truck down the street at 50 mph? Do you not comprehend that there are children who play in the neighborhood, and that they often run into the road to retrieve a ball or ride their bike? Do you know that your truck sounds like it is farting when you speed on by? Oh, I'm sorry to offend you- perhaps you think that double exhaust makes you look cool when driving. Well guess what? IT DOESN'T.
Also, I think you may speed because you must not be able to read the 20 mph SPEED LIMIT signs which are clearly posted up and down the street. In closing, you are a huge @sshole. Your truck is a piece of crap, and it sounds gay. That makes you gay too. Please stop speeding down my street in your gay, farting white truck.

Very Respectfully,

Mrs. Top Gun

Guess what?

This is what popped up on my cellphone a little while ago!!!!
Mr. Top Gun is in TEXAS!!!!!!!!! What a sneaky little devil he is. I didn't expect him home for a couple of days, and when I spoke to him last night he was out with the boys... again. So, I figured there was no way in hell he was going to show up today, given the fact that my "flyboys" LOVE to have them some fun- with drinks- a lot of them. He sounded grumpy last night, so I ignored it and went back to sleep (remember what I said about me sounding 'drunk' when Mr. Top Gun calls at ungodly hours?) Yeah, that was me last night and he actually told me this: "You sound weird. I can't understand what you are saying, you sound drunk."

Anyways, I find out in a text message that he didn't drink but since he rode with one of his buddies, he was at the mercy of waiting for him to finish up having fun. In the end? Mr. Top Gun had to drive said buddies truck home, due to said buddy having waaaay too much to drink. Whatever. I don't care. HE IS COMING HOME!!!!

*I will answer ALL of your awesome questions soon. I need me some time with Mr. Top Gun first! I'll let ya'll figure out what I'm gonna be doing ;) And it's certainly not the laundry, hehe!

Do you have burning questions for me? If so, ask now!

Last chance to ask your questions about me is coming up!
Mr. Top Gun should be home soon, so I may be MIA for a day or so (hehe)

1. No question is too much
2. Personal questions? Sure!
3. I KNOW YOU WANT TO KNOW, so ask :)
4. I already have a few awesome questions to answer, and one post in particular requires a small dissertation on my part *LOVE THE QUESTIONS, SIN GAL!!!*
Love,
Mrs. Top Gun

Thirsty Thursday!

THIRSTY THURSDAY'S DRINK OF THE WEEK:
Texas Tea
I've decided to start a new weekly tradition. In honor of it merely being Thursday, Mrs. Top Gun introduces a new drink recipe every Thursday! This weeks drink is a fave of mine, and why not start off with a TEXAS drink? I feel it is very much called for! Hope ya'll enjoy it, and feel free to mix it up- let me know if you come up with a new version, or perhaps you have a fun drink you'd like to share? Send it my way!
Here in Texas, we don't do anything 'little,' and this drink packs a potent punch. Please don't plan on drinking one or two of these and then driving home- just have someone else drive you! So, grab your fancy drinking glass, add lots of ice and pour it!

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 2 oz rum
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 2 oz gin
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 2 oz triple sec
  • 2 oz sweet and sour mix
  • cola

Preparation:

  1. Fill a 1 gallon pitcher with ice.
  2. Pour all the ingredients, except the cola, into the pitcher.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Add the cola to taste. *Use Coca-Cola, not generic*
  5. Stir again.
  6. Pour into a glass over ice and serve.

What do you want to know about Mrs. Top Gun? Ask away!

I am posting this early, since tomorrow I am going to be running around like crazy getting my nails done, shopping and cleaning Casa Top Gun. So, here it goes...

*What do you want to know about Mrs. Top Gun?*
I know there are some burning questions out there, so ask away! Nothing is off limits.

He's coming home!

Yes, Mr. Top Gun is coming HOME!!! Not sure when, but I got the call last night at the lovely hour of 5 A.M. Now, here's the thing about calling Mrs. Top Gun at ungodly hours:
1. I either sound drunk.
2. Sound like I am on drugs.
3. Talk really, really loudly.
4. Can't find my darn phone, thus knocking the glass of water over on my nightstand.
5. Find the phone, answer it and end up clicking the "Ignore" button. Nice!

I was so hesitant to answer, because I figured it would be more bad news but it wasn't! I should have Mr. Top Gun in my arms in the next few days, so that means a few things need to get done around Casa Top Gun... Change the sheets on the bed, straighten up the house, clean the bathroom, get my nails done- yes. My nails. It is vitally important that I look my best when I jump into his arms! When he called last night, I asked him why he called so late.

Mr. Top Gun: "I'm all done. I rocked this flight, flew the heck out of the plane and got NO downgrades!"

Mrs. Top Gun: "Why are you calling so late? I was worried about you."

Mr. Top Gun: "Well, I was drinking with my crew."

Mrs. Top Gun: *blinks eyes, wiping sleep from them*
"At THIS HOUR? Who drinks at 4 or 5 in the morning?"

Mr. Top Gun: "Love, I fly planes. And when you fly in the middle of the night, your 4 or 5 A.M. is like my happy hour. Besides, it's tradition- you know that. I buy alcohol for my instructor (s) and the rest of the crew."

Mrs. Top Gun: " Yes, I know that. So, ya'll drank it all?"

Mr. Top Gun: "HELL YEAH, we did!"

I am just so happy to know he is coming home to me! We have a lot to do when he gets back (PCS, anyone?) but, we can finally close this chapter of our lives. Phew. What a relief! I recently spoke with Mr. Top Gun, and he told me was resting, so he could go out with the guys and "hoot it up" together before they all leave for different sides of the world. Oh boy... it looks like my evening may be filled with silly text messages and perhaps a VERY happy phone call from Mr. Top Gun! Hey, they ALL deserve a night out, and I am so proud of Mr. Top Gun and his fellow Top Gun buddies. They did it, and it's over! *GOOD JOB, GUYS!!!!*

For all the Military Spouses/Fiances/Girlfriends

How FUNNY and TRUE is this??

I'm Ranting, oh yes I am!

This pretty much sums it up...
*click on it to make it bigger*

Mrs. Top Gun is tired today. I don't give a rats butt about much and Mr. Top Gun is still "MIA." Not sure where he is, when he is going to come home to me- but I am pretty sure I would like to take a freakin' sledgehammer to his PLANE!!! RANT DAY?? YES!!!!!!! Planes break, I get that. Planes breaking every time he flies? CRAP. Where have all the good maintenance guys gone? Are there children fixing Mr. Top Gun's plane? No offense to my fellow Maintenance wives- your Husbands know what they are doing, the people at Mr. Top Gun's base do not. I feel bad for him, I really do. I wish I could fix things for him, I wish he didn't have to be all alone, and I want him to have a home cooked meal instead of eating at the chow hall every night. But, I sit amongst the 'Silent Ranks.' All I can do is give him all of the support and encouragement I can, without sounding like a mother. Mr. Top Gun is getting very antsy. His freakin' plane has managed to run his vitally important flights into the ground, and he was supposed to be home weeks ago.
Yes, I know I signed up for this crap when I married him. I lived this life as a kid, being shuttled around every few years, and crying for my daddy. So, I am entitled to rant about this now. I can only hope his flight this evening goes well *PRAYERS* If so, i'll have him home soon. I'm done now. Thanks for listening to my RANT!

Mrs. Top Gun finds out about a lovely creature in Japan...

*If you have a fear of spiders, you probably shouldn't look at this post.*

Meet the Brown Widow Spider.

I HATE SPIDERS. I am deathly afraid of them, and I think they are out to get me. I survived a bite from a brown recluse about 4 years ago, and still have some discoloration on my left lower calf from the lovely little visitor who decided to BITE me in my bed! The other day, Mr. Top Gun received a lovely informational package *of crap, really* from his new Squadron in Japan, so I opened it up and found a little book filled with a bunch of information about these things: Food, culture, manners, typhoons, Japanese housing, the ocean *GORGEOUS*, ocean creatures and deadly land creatures. Yeah! Giant centipedes, stinging worms, Viper snakes, mosquitoes and... THE BROWN WIDOW SPIDER.
Seriously?!?!? I looked at the picture and threw the book half way across the room, and I swear I felt a spider on me... somewhere. I later spoke with Mr. Top Gun, and showed him the photo of the spider. This is what he tells me: "Awesome! They look nice." W-H-A-T? His joke did not sit well with me, and by the time he realized how upset I was, I was crying. I know I may sound like a weenie to some of you, but I can't HANDLE SPIDERS!
The end.

Saying goodbye to my car and talking about a baby...

This is Mrs. Top Gun's car. Her name is "Bella." She is my baby, I love her. She is shiny, hasn't got a ding or scratch upon her and has lived in a garage since being driven off the Acura lot. When Mr. Top Gun came home a few months ago, he informed me that we would be moving to JAPAN, and that we couldn't take our cars with us. What!?!? Mr. Top Gun had just purchased a brand spankin new 2008 Black Pathfinder, 4 wheel drive, fully loaded and suddenly we find ourselves having to find homes for our cars. BOO. My car is going to be gifted to my dad! He loves my car, always has and being the incredible Husband to my Mom, he really never has owned his own new car- ever. My Mom has always gotten a new car every 4 years, and my Dad just purchases a used one. I am happy to say that my car shall be going to a good home! Mrs. Top Gun's Dad needs to sell his older Acura anyways, and the money he gets from the sell is going to fund my 'new' car in Japan.
Mr. Top Gun is going to sell his SUV to a local dealer or try to sell to a fellow Military member. If not, his SUV goes into the garage at his parents, and will sit there for a good three years. Now, that is my rant for the day. And to make it worse? I get a letter from my XM radio company, explaining that I need to renew my service soon. Ironic much? Turns out that the service expires on the exact date the Top Gun's will be gone from the states. Oh well. I call my Dad and he takes over the service! He is like a kid in a candy shop right now, and I'm glad he doesn't have the keys yet... He wants to drive that car, and he wants it now!

The upside of giving up my car? Mr. Top Gun has promised me a brand new BMW when we return stateside!! Don't I just have the most fabulous husband? See, I told you he indulges me. I heart you, Mr. Top Gun. Now, let's get to making a baby!

***** Yes, a baby. We had the talk. Looks like Mrs. Top Gun is going to start a family in Japan, sometime soon. *****

How did the Top Gun's Get Married, you ask?

With this ring...

I thee wed!

Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Top Gun did the JP Wedding. I have been asked recently by some whether I consider that day to be our actual wedding day, and my answer is always the same: YES! You see, Mrs. Top Gun seemed to have perfect timing when meeting Mr. Top Gun... He was in the midst of awaiting orders for his next flight training base, and Mrs. Top Gun made it quite clear that SHE WASN'T going to stay behind when he left! *I will post how we met, and the proposal story on my next blog*

We lived together for a year before Mr. Top Gun proposed, a promise he made to his momma (Sweet boy, right?) On the day of our JP wedding, all HELL broke loose. First, the Judge I had made the appointment with forgot to tell us we needed our marriage license. Yes, I know some of you are reading this going "wow, that's kinda common sense!" We were under so much stress and literally had a few weeks to organize our wedding day, that it totally slipped our minds. So, cue Mrs. Top Gun throwing a FIT in the parking lot, crying and cursing the Judge for not telling us about the license. Now, cue Mrs. Top Gun's Daddy! He got on the phone and called every Justice of the Peace in our area until he found one who could marry us.

We manage to get the license , and in a place where Mrs. Top Gun was hooted at by inmates who were being held in a county jail which we had to walk by. KLASSY? Yes, I know! The ending? The Top Gun's are married by the BEST JUDGE IN TEXAS- EVER!!! and we are off to start our lives together. Doesn't Mr. Top Gun just look soooo head over heels in love in the picture? I was nervous as the dickens, and he was holding my hand to keep it from shaking. We had our HUGE TEXAS style wedding with family and friends about a year later, when Mr. Top Gun had a week off from training. Oh, and if you find yourself asking who is taking the picture of us in the background? That's my Grandpa :) Look for my proposal story and some pictures of our big wedding later on!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!

This is Mrs. Top Gun with her Dad during a formal function about two years ago.

And this is Mrs. Top Gun, my Brother and my Daddy underneath the Eiffell Tower, Circa 1994... Please excuse my apparel, it was the early 90's and my Mom insisted that my Brother and I wear matching colors. Why, you ask? In case we got lost.
This is Mrs. Top Gun in a bikini, with my cousin and my Daddy on the boat.
I think I was in 6th grade here. Nice outfit, Dad! Mrs. Top Gun is the one looking at the camera, and yes- had curly hair and an awesomely neon green bikini bottom!

And here we have my Daddy, asleep on the couch in our new home in Germany. He has our brand new poodle, Streak on his lap. Sadly, Streak passed away a few years ago and it broke my Dad's heart. That was his dog, and he loved him so much. Nice glasses Dad!!

Sadly, this shall be Mrs. Top Gun's last Father's Day at home with my Daddy.
Oh well, we can always Skype from Japan! I love you Dad!!!!!!

What happens when Mr. Top Gun is gone for TOOO long...

As you may recall, Mr. Top Gun has been away from Mrs. Top Gun for a bit now. It seems his plane refuses to co-operate, thus making him fall behind in his flights. So, I get a phone call from him this afternoon and as usual, I answer like a giddy school girl. This is what it sounded like:

Mrs. Top Gun: "Hi, love what's up?"

Mr. Top Gun: "Nothing, I just wanted to let you know I got back to my room safely."

Mrs. Top Gun: " Awesome. Glad to hear that."

Mr. Top Gun: "Guess what I did?"

Mrs. Top Gun: "You went out with the guys for lunch?"

Mr. Top Gun: "Nope. I went to the Commissary and bought food!"

Mrs. Top Gun: "What did you get?"

Mr. Top Gun: "I bought: RAISINS, bananas, wheat thins, blueberry pop tarts (and other stuff")
Ok, this is where I almost drop the phone. In the 4 years of being with Mr. Top Gun, he has NEVER, EVER eaten raisins nor requested that I purchase them for him while grocery shopping. I asked him why he got them, and he says to me: "I went down the raisin aisle, and I saw them and they looked yummy." *Since when does the Commissary have a RAISIN aisle?* So, for you other Military wives- does YOUR Commissary have an aisle solely dedicated to only raisins?
Please discuss.

You say you aren't from Texas?

T E X A S. IT'S LIKE A WHOLE OTHER COUNTRY.

*THAT'S RIGHT (YOU'RE NOT FROM TEXAS)*

You say you’re not from Texas
Man as if I couldn’t tell
You think you pull your boots on right
And wear your hat so well
So pardon me my laughter
‘Cause I sure do understand
Even Moses got excited
When he saw the promised land

See I was born and raised in Texas
And it means so much to me
Though my girl comes from down in Georgia
We were up in Tennessee
And as we were driving down the highway
She asked me baby what’s so great
How come you’re always going on
About your Lone Star State
I said that’s right you’re not from Texas

Oh the road it looked so lovely
As she stood there on the side
And she grew smaller in my mirror
As I watched her wave goodbye
Those boys from Carolina
They sure enough could sing
But when they came on down to Texas
We all showed them how to swing
Now David’s on the radio
And old Champ’s still on the guitar
And Uncle Walt he’s home with Heidi
Hiding in her loving arms

They’re OK in Oklahoma
Up in Arkansas they’re fair
But those old folks in Missouri
They don’t even know you’re there
But at a dance hall down in Texas
That’s the finest place to be
The women they all look beautiful
And the men will buy your beer for free
And they’ll say that’s right
you’re not from Texas

So won’t you let me help you Mister
Just pull your hat down the way I do
And buy your pants just a little longer
And next time somebody laughs at you
You just tell ‘em you’re not from Texas
That’s right you’re not from Texas
*This is my rant for why I LOVE my Texas so much.* Yes, Mr. Top Gun does object to the part about people from Missouri, but the truth is what it is! I know my other fellow Texas girls agree with me on this one.

Why I love my Dad

This is what my Dad gave me yesterday when he and my Mom dropped by the house. Yes, he gave me a can of Mediterranean Pickles. Now, Mrs. Top Gun loves, loves, loves herself some pickles- but has never seen nor even heard of the above mentioned pickles in all of her pickle eating years. The funniest part of this 'personal gift?' I asked my Dad if he bought these at the dollar store. "No, they are from Central Market. Why would I buy something like this from the dollar store?" Here is the part where you get a little background on my Dad: First, the man is a Ret. USAF Colonel, and is one of the smartest people I know. When I say smart, I mean like Ridiculously smart. Mrs. Top Gun did NOT inherit the math gene from her dad, she is retarted with math. Second, He loves picking up what we both call 'personal gifts' for me. This silly tradition of the 'personal gift' started years ago when I opened a Christmas gift from him wrapped in a paper bag.
Third, my Dad is one of the FUNNIEST guys around. If you have a joke, be it dirty, sexual, or whatever- he's probably heard it. I swear he and his other ret. Colonel buddies must have a secret society with these jokes. They are all the same, but nonetheless hilarious. I opened the pickles this evening and they are delicious! They remind me of a cross between the sweet and sour gherkin pickles I loved to eat as a kid in Germany, and a good ol' Vlasic dill pickle. Mrs. Top Gun is happy.

My Top Gun

I heart you, Mr. Top Gun. Please come home soon!

Flight Medicine is the BEE'S KNEES!

Flight Medicine totally ROCKS my socks. They are awesome and Flight Doc. is awesome! So, as you may have read from my last post, yesterday s-u-c-k-e-d, and it did so big time. I ended up in bed attempting to sleep off my migraine from hell, but alas, was not able to do so. Mrs. Top Gun spent some quality time with the porcelain God, AKA the toilet. Nice. After throwing up the small amount of food I was able to consume, I was ready to throw in the towel and drive to the ER. Luckily for me, I had a routine appt. this morning at Flight Medicine for migraine medication refills. Ironic much? I think so! I manage to get dressed and look presentable- because God forbid I would run into someone I knew on base this morning looking like I had just crawled out of the sewer. Mrs. Top Gun doesn't leave her house without make-up and her high heels, and yes, I can be knocking on deaths door but darn if I'm not gonna ring that bell looking fine!

I get to Flight Medicine, and the receptionist says: "Honey, you don't look so good. Let's take you back to Doc's office now, and let you lie down." AWESOME. I told the Airman at the desk not to talk to me or look at me as I was walking to the back. He laughed, and said: "Well, you are here ALL THE TIME, so you can say that to me." Fast forward to Flight Doc entering the room. Mrs. Top Gun is still in her Dolce shades, lying down on the exam table, looking like a burnt out rock star and probably making the Doc think I partied too hard the night before. He looks at me and says: "You have a migraine. Do you want a shot for it?" YES, YES, YES!!! He fills my meds, orders the shot and wishes me and Mr. Top Gun luck on our PCS. The Nurse comes into the room about 10 minutes later, wielding a large needle an a lovely vial of meds. Now, Mrs. Top Gun is used to migraines but I haven't required a shot in about two years. Yes, the migraine was that horrific.

I prepare my rear end (haha, yep I got a shot in the butt!) and the Nurse ends up bending the needle. She tells me that I have a firm butt, and that she needs to go and get a sharper, tinier needle. Mrs. Top Gun is feeling happy now. Not from the meds yet, but from the compliment of having a firm butt!! *Yeah* Those silly butt exercises DO work. I get the shot, mosey on over to the pharmacy, get my meds and drive home. As soon as I get in the garage, I almost keel over from the effects of the shot. But hey, my migraine was GONE, and I was feeling nice! I proceed directly to my heavenly cloud bed and pass out until Mr. Top Gun calls to say he is leaving to go fly. What a nice 4 hour nap! So, here's to you Flight Medicine! Thank you for saving Mrs. Top Gun from the brink of death. I shall miss you Flight Doctor Awesome :)

How was your day today ?

This morning was not good. I did not want to hear the alarm clock, listen to the kids next door SCREAMING while running around their yard, and I did NOT want to get out of bed. Mr. Top Gun called last night to tell me that his lovely plane was again, broken and that he was able to complete some of his mission, but not enough to count. UGH. Why can't maintenance please do their job and check the plane BEFORE flying? Suppose that is too much to ask of them. Whatever. Compound a late night of talking to the husband with a very, very restless and whiny me... and what do you get?

I felt like the turtle in the picture, and now after speaking with Mr. Top Gun? I decided to ball my eyes out. Yes, I totally lost it this evening when he called, and I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm a space cadet! I suppose it was merely ALL of my frustrations and emotions coming out, but seriously? Now, I have a crying migraine. My eyes are swollen and I just feel poopy. Mr. Top Gun is lucky he is not here to see me right now- not a pretty sight to behold... at all. And, I feel horrible for emotionally 'throwing up' on him this evening. I'm going to bed now. If I hear another phone ring, I'm going to throw it at the freakin' wall!
I hope you all had a MUCH better day than me!
