Mr. Top Gun helps the Typhoon and Earthquake victims in Indonesia

As you may have heard in the news, Indonesia was recently hit by an extremely powerful typhoon and then rattled by another one and an earthquake. Mr. Top Gun happened to be flying around in the area when him and his crew were asked to fly into Indonesia and provide much needed aid and assistance to the people in the area. I just received these photos from him, and can I just say this:  I AM SO STINKIN PROUD OF HIM!!  My heart is filled with so much pride and joy, and I am so incredibly honored that my husband was able to help out these poor people, and he told me that the people were coming up to him and thanking and hugging him for what he has done for them. How awesome must that make him feel?

If you look closely in each picture you can see Mr. Top Gun! Just look for the tall, auburn haired guy in the flight suit- you'll see him :)

So, here is to you Mr. Top Gun! I love you with all my heart, and although I do wish you were here with me, I am beyond proud of what you are doing over there. You are truly my real life prince charming, who didn't ride in on a white horse, but on a pretty awesome plane! I LOVE YOU! You totally rock :)

Japan: The land of sushi, soba, and engrish...

When you live in Japan, what do you do? (besides getting into an accident...) You visit a very, very authentic Sushi and Tempura house! And that is precisely what Mr. Top Gun and I proceeded to do a few days ago. This little gem is located right up the road from our house and is conveniently located between the Pizza In (yes, they spell it like that) and the Men's "Relaxation"/Sex Salon! I know, the island has very KLASSY areas...
Anyhow, we arrived during dinner and were surprised to be the ONLY people in the house, that is until we both realized that the Japanese eat much later than 5:30 or 6:30 in the evening. Mr. Top Gun remarked that he hoped we wouldn't die from bad fish since nobody was in the restaraunt but us, and that should be taken as a red flag. Oh, Mr. Top Gun! You silly man :) We opted for eating in one of the many tatami rooms over a regular table, because we are in Japan! I removed my sandals without problems and sat down upon my comfy cushions, and began perusing the menu. Mr. Top Gun was not quite as successful as I was with taking his shoes off however... He struggled with them for a good three minutes, taking time to fix his socks and jeans in the process. Eons later, he joined me for dinner. Alright, in his defense he is 6 feet tall and all legs so I can understand how it is uber difficult for him to even sit down in a tatami room! I always see him adjusting his legs, cracking his knee and stretching during dinner. Poor baby!
After these shenanigans had finished, we began perusing the dinner menu *yum!* Upon first glance, we notice the waitress has subtly placed the chef's nightly recommendations on the side of our table. We look at it and... Guess what I have the pleasure of seeing again? HORSE MEAT SASHIMI! Seriously, Japan? Can you cool it with the horse meat menu already? I do so thoroughly enjoy your sushi and noodles and tempura, but you must understand that when I see HORSE on a menu, my little old stomach shuts down. So, STOP IT!
After getting over the shock of horse meat again, we order. Well, we attempt to read the menu and then order... You see, the Japanese are not so good in translating Japanese into English, and therefore have the most ridiculously silly and difficult to read and even comprehend Menus! I swear I want to bust out my handy red marker and start correcting all of the spelling errors on the menus! Yes, this is the part where the English Major dork in me seems to emerge quite often. So, without further babbling from my nonstop mouth, please enjoy a few pictures from our adventure at Amawari Sushi and Tempura House!

Hmmmm..... Does anyone wish to try the boiled tuna eye? Or perhaps you may fancy the sliced tuna cheek on an iron plate? If not, you can always request cuttlefish guts in sauce, octopus guts in sauce, horse meat sashimi, chicken toes and guts, and probably anything else that sounds nasty- and guess what? They shall make it for you!! Yeah!!! Japan!!!

Happy Birthday, Mr. Top Gun!

It's official... Today, August 19th is Mr. Top Gun's Birthday!!
I think blogger is retarded because they date my post a full day behind, and we are almost through his birthday here in Japan!

To Mr. Top Gun,
I can't believe I am celebrating another birthday with you. These past three years have flown by (hehe, get it?) and I am so blessed to have you in my life! I love you more today than I did yesterday, and I shall love you more tomorrow than I do today. My love for you will never falter, even if times seem tough and the world seems like it is out to get us- I will always be right beside you, no matter how far apart we may be. Thank you for choosing me to be your Mrs. Top Gun!! You are by far, the sexiest man alive, and I have the life long privilege of having you for the rest of my life.

Oh, Mr. Top Gun you've come a long way, since your days of being a 'swimming champion!' You still have that gorgeous auburn hair though! Don't you LOVE his long, flowing hair here? And check out those lips... He still has the most kissable, luscious lips today! Mr. Top Gun is going to kill me for posting that, but whatever. It's his Birthday!!

Happy Birthday!!! I love you!!!

Thirsty Thursday with Mr. Top Gun!

This Thirsty Thursday, Mr. Top Gun wanted to give me his personal take on what he thought should be the drink of the week. So, for the first time ever, Mr. Top Gun presents his Thirsty Thursday drink: Johnny Walker Blue Label Scotch. On the rocks, with two cubes of perfectly squared ice *only 2 cubes, he says*

Mr. Top Gun's Perfect Scotch "Recipe"

*Find the perfect glass, put the ice cubes in it and pour the scotch over it. Drink it. SLOWLY. SAVOUR IT. ENJOY IT.
Cheers!
Mr. Top Gun.
Now, you didn't think I was going to let Mr. Top Gun take all control over my famous Thirsty Thursday did ya? Besides, I think scotch tastes like paint thinner and I would never, ever leave my lovelies hanging without my delicious drink recipe. This week, I decided to choose a favorite that I grew up on- and no, it has no alcohol. I'm sure you could add some vodka to it, but I prefer the delicious, fresh, and summery taste of: A Watermelon Agua Fresca. Translated, this means fruit water and it is delicious! You can use any fruit you like in the recipe.

Mrs. Top Gun's Watermelon Agua Fresca:

*4 cups of seedless watermelon (or cantaloupe or honeydew melon)
* 1/4 cup of sugar
*Watermelon slices to garnish
* 2 cups of ice water
* Crushed ice

Add all ingredients to your blender, blending until nice and smooth. Pour the watermelon mixture into a wire mesh strainer, straining out any solid pieces of the fruit. Stir in your 2 cups of ice cold water, and pour over crushed ice in your favorite glass! Garnish with watermelon if desired. This recipe makes about 5 servings. Enjoy!

What Mr. Top Gun really does...

I have days when I have questioned as to whether or not Mr. Top Gun is really 'working' when he leaves for the base, due to the fact that leaving the house in full flight suit and with flight bag in hand- yet returning a mere 20 minutes later... Hmm... what are they really doing on the flight line? I finally found the answer, and this picture says it all! *THANKS to BLACK HAT IN THE CORNER* She e-mailed this to me earlier today, so she totally rocks!
