Five for Friday

1. I LOVE that when you came to say goodbye to me this morning, you told me: "I am sweet on you today." Ahh!

2. I LOVE that even though you have to work on Saturday *Blah,* you told me you wanted me to come into work with you, so we could be together.

3. I LOVE how you make fun of my big ol' German feet, yet you never fuss at giving them a fabulous massage.

4. I LOVE how you folded and put away all of the laundry on Tuesday, after you had a ridiculously long day at work.

5. I LOVE that you took me to get Baskin Robbins last night, and then you looked over at the Dunkin Donuts and asked me if I wanted those too!

Five for Friday

I have decided to follow in the footsteps of one of my favorite fellow bloggers, Jessicalynn (jesstagirlandherofficer,) and post my own five for Friday now!

1. I LOVE how you woke me up this morning with a kiss, and told me I looked sweet (with my hair all over the place, and my sleep mask on...)

2. I LOVE that you picked up my migraine meds for me from the base today, even though you barely had time to eat lunch (or breathe, for that matter.)

3. I LOVE that you stood in the kitchen with me and watched me cook, while you told me about your day.

4. I LOVE how excited you were about me making you a delicious sandwich for lunch today!

5. I LOVE that I actually get a WHOLE weekend with you this week!! a full Friday night and Saturday- all day!! Sunday too!!

Dance, Okinawa, Dance!

This past weekend, Mr. and I attended a going away party for one of the other Flyboys in our Squadron. It was a wonderful gathering, and I made homemade guacamole and salsa! The wife of the Flyboy who is leaving has had the pleasure of working with some of the local nationals in her office, and they also happen to be part of a local Okinawan dance troupe. So, for her going away present, they performed some traditional dances and played the drums. Mr. and I had heard of these performances, but we have never had the time or chance to experience one up close and so personal. It did not disappoint! Although, by the end of the 20 minute performance both of our ears were ringing and I had a slight headache.

The young men who play the drums were AMAZING! I have no idea how they muster the strength to play so vigorously and with such passion too. Five minutes into the set, both of them were sweating, but smiling! The drums are covered in Habu Skin. Yes, Habu, as in the deadly Habu Viper here on Okinawa. Those snakes are super deadly, but it did make me kinda sad to see the skins used to cover the drums.

When did I become THAT old??

Umm, I think I got old overnight... The last I remembered, my 'little' Brother was a typical 21 year old college frat boy, who was more interested in partying and his BMW. The LAST thing he wanted was a girlfriend- someone who he had to be responsible for, care for and give his heart to. Well, I leave Texas and come back to Japan after the holidays, and all of a sudden this gorgeous girl pops up in his life...

I really didn't think anything of it at first, given my brother's track record with girls. He gets bored easily and he is super duper picky! That's a good thing though, because this girl he found is amazing! I am just so darn happy for him, and I hope he realizes that he really has found a true gem amongst a pile of rocks, and hangs on to her. The pictures below are from her sisters wedding they attended last weekend. I can't believe how tall and handsome my brother has become!!

So, dearest brother: Please stop growing up. I still remember you as my little baby in 'the pea pod' after I helped mom give you a bath. I miss you terribly, and can't wait until I can give you a big old hug! Love, your Top Gun Sister. PS- If you break miss R's heart, I am going to be extremely upset with you.

Easter with the Top Guns

Easter almost didn't happen this year... Well, I suppose it still would have occurred whether or not Mr. Top Gun was home or not, but it wouldn't have been the same without him! I got the call the night before from him saying that the plane had broken (what's new, right?) and that maintenance was working on it, but they were going to see how it went... The next morning I realize he in ONLINE, and just know he is not coming home in time and obviously not in his plane if he is on the internet either. He messages me and says the plane that came with the part that morning was BROKEN, and the plane en route to fix the broken plane who was supposed to replace the other broken plane had a fuel leak... I just see this all falling down, and figured he wouldn't be home.

That evening, I happen to pop onto facebook and notice that one of the other wives posted that she was going to pick her husband up. Hmm... her husband is with Mr. Top Gun, so that must mean he is coming home? YEP! Obviously, he did make it home in time for Easter and we were able to enjoy our first Easter away from home- and away from my Mom's incredible Easter Dinner *Sob, Sob*

Here is what the Top Gun's Easter spread tooked like:

On the Menu was:

Honey and Brown Sugar Glazed Ham
Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
Mrs. Top Gun's squash casserole
Asparagus, Beets and Baby corn with a dill vinaigrette dressing
Pinot Grigio 2007
Homemade Carrot Cake

The end result of Moustache March...

Well, this is the end. Yes, it is April 7th, and I am just now posting this... Give me a break- Mr. Top Gun finally came home from flying around the world, and I have been enjoying my time with him. He headed back to work today, so that it why I am am able to update my poor little blog!

He actually got home late last weekend, and when I arrived to pick him up at the Squadron it was really dark, so I wasn't able to immediately spot him. I decided it might be a good idea to clear the passenger seat of my purse, jacket, and a box from the post office (which had been in there for a week,) and apparently in between this time, I managed to do the following: I decided I needed to call him on his cellphone to see if he really was at the Squadron, and proceeded to THROW my cellphone in between the seats. As I am bending over to look for my cellphone, I realize that the guys are starting to come out of building and that I should probably NOT be bending over like that... Well, guess whose voice I hear in the distance... This is what I heard: "Yeah! I like what I see!!"

Oh, goodness. That is my husband for you! When I finally turn around and look at him, it is so dark outside that all I can see is a man in a flightsuit and jacket... and then, it happens... THE MOUSTACHE APPEARS, AGAIN!! Barf. Seriously, he looked handsome as all heck, but I expected that crap on his lip to be shaved prior to me seeing him. After the reunion, we decided to run to the shoppette for milk (for me, of course.) As we are walking in the store, I turn and see him in the light and realize that it is now the first week in April, nobody else has a moustache around us, and I am now the wife who has a husband who has 'gone rogue...' Oh, and the best part to all of this? It was a lovely Saturday night, and we were the cool couple at the shoppette buying milk, not liquor or beer. I know, we are waaay too awesome for words :)

I was able to snap a quick photo before I proceeded to make Mr. Top Gun march upstairs and shave that crap off of his face. THANK GOD it is over! Goodbye, moustache March and April!

Yeah, he looks thrilled.

FYI- It's April now. Lose the Stache. Please!

Welcome to my hell. Seriously, it is APRIL here, people and that means... GOODBYE, Moustache! Right?
Epic FAIL. Epic FAIL. Mr. Top Gun and I were chatting on Skype last night, and I asked him if he had shaved it since today was the 1st. I think the conversation below explains... Have fun reading about my nightmare ;)

Me:
Are you coming home with it?

Mr. Top Gun:
i dont know yet, it depends on when they do the pic, if i do come home with it, we're supposed to do the pic at the squadron and then we can shave it there

Me:
Thank GOD. I will do this if I see you with it *punching icon*

Mr. Top Gun:
haha

Me:
Shave it in the bathroom before I come pick you up- puh-lease

Mr. Top Gun:
haha, ok

Mr. Top Gun:
i look sexy though

Me:
Nope

Me:
Nope, you don't

Mr. Top Gun
yes

Me:
If you don't shave it there at the squadron, then the Easter Bunny takes your goodies and you get no dinner and no sex.

Mr. Top Gun
i doubt that, i would still get sex and treats

Me:
Really?

Mr. Top Gun:
Yeah, I would because you love me too much.

(((END)))

Seriously though- He is having some ridiculous crew photo taken, and god I cannot wait to see this one!! I told him he will shave it at the squadron if they don't have time to get it taken before he heads home, because if he wants a ride home?? Well, it will be shaved before I see his handsome face! PRAY FOR ME PEOPLE, PRAY FOR ME!!!
