Congratulations, Mr. Top Gun!

No, he wasn't home for Christmas. No, he isn't home now. But, a phone call a few days ago and an e-mail from the Air Force to Mr. Top Gun said this...

I think this was the best Christmas gift Mr. Top Gun could have received!! Well, aside from me, of course! Congrats, my love! So darn proud of you!!

Special surprise

I was wrapping presents this afternoon and feeling crappy about not having my dashing husband here with me, when the doorbell rang and...

These beauties showed up! Two dozen roses imported from Kenya?? Wow! I just got some roses a week ago, and now these stunning gems as well? Mr. Top Gun, you DONE WELL!!!

Fredericksburg, Texas and Santa Claus!

Yesterday, my parents and I took a drive up to Fredericksburg, Texas, and had a fun filled day of shopping and eating and more shopping! I dropped into the Lucchese Boot store, and zeroed in on a few beauties that wanted to come home with me. Sadly though, my huge German foot didn't want to fit into the size 7's and 8's they had, so I shall be making a trip to the Quarry here in San Antonio before I head back to Japan to pick out my boots! Hey- this Texas girl needs herself a new pair of boots, and the fact that I live on a tropical island in Japan does not deter me from buying them. Boots on a Texans feet are like Nike's to us. We wear them whenever and wherever, and you can bet that my new boots *hoping I find them,* shall see the sand and coral dust of Okinawa!

Here are some pictures from my latest shenanigans in Fredericksburg, Texas. Santa Claus was found in the local German bakery we stopped in for some to die for pastries to bring home, and my Dad had this to say: "You know, after you sat on his lap, he won't be able to stand up now!" Thanks Dad! When I sat down, he asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him I wanted my Husband home from the sandbox. He looked at me and said: "Well, as long as he is NOT HERE, he is considered your boyfriend." SANTA??!?! You are rather naughty, aren't you ;)

                                                                  Texas Santa!

Sorry, Santa- I'm married!

Real Life conversations between the Top Gun's

I love getting phone calls from Mr. Top Gun. They make my days a heck of a lot brighter, and merely hearing his voice makes me feel all gooey and tingly inside! God, I really miss him! Anyways, here are some of the highlights from our latest conversation the other night... I have one ridiculous and super silly husband!

 Conversation One:

Mr. Top Gun:  " I got a package from you today."
Me: " Awesome! Did you love the Snyder's peanut butter pretzel's?"
Mr. "Yeah, but when one of the guys saw them, he told me to keep them away from him."
Me: "Why? Is he allergic?"
Mr. "No, he just almost died from them. He was deployed a few years ago, and had a handful of them, he ate them really fast and one ended up puncturing his windpipe, then his lungs."
Me: OMG. That is horrible!
Mr. "Yeah, they flew him to Germany to have emergency surgery, he was in ICU for days."
Mr. "So, I took the bag away from the area he was in right away. That is freaky stuff! But, they are tasty, and I love them!"

Conversation two:

Me: "I finally got the Swine Flu Vaccine today."
Mr. "Really? Where did you get it at?"
Me: "I went to HEB, but the Pharmacist told me I had to reserve a shot. Isn't that retarted?"
Mr. "Well, what did you do about it?"
Me: "I told them you are deployed and we are getting ready to start a family, and that I travel all over the world, so I need the shot today- not next week."
Mr. "So you used me and my deployment and turned it into a sob story, in order to get some drugs?"
Me: "Yep, you betcha. And it worked too! The Pharmacist felt sorry for me."
Me: "Oh, and I have a fever now and I feel kinda icky from it."
Me: "How did you feel after you got it?
Mr. "I felt nothing. And I felt nothing because I am awesome like that. You know that!"
 *Yes, you are awesome*

Conversation three:

Mr. "How did you know I needed tissues so badly?"
Me: "Well, you are obsessed with using tissues, and I know you have been kinda sniffly lately, so I thought I would send a bunch in the package."
Mr. "You are a mind reader, then."
Mr. "I am glad you sent them, because flyboy L has been jacking my tissues. His nose is always runny, and he used up all of my tissues which I had to take a hike to the BX for!"
Me: "Didn't his wife send him a care package the other day? You should have taken his tissues."
Mr. "Yeah, but she sent him all Japanese tissues *she is Japanese* and those tissues are itchy and have some weird lotiony crap on them. I don't like them, so I took all the tissues you sent me and hid them."

Conversation four:

Mr. "You know that song, 99 Red Balloons?"
Me: "Yes, why are you asking me this?"
Mr. "Well, the other day during a flight, flyboy C decided to sing it outloud in German."
Me: "How did it sound? Because he doesn't speak German.."
Mr. "It was reallllly annoying, and he did it all day. He sounded weird to me."
Mr. "By the way, How do you say 99 Red Balloons in German?"
Me: "You want me to say it in German to you??"
Mr. "Yes. I want you to sing the verse."

*I proceeded to sing the verse for him. Not once, but three times. Mr. Top Gun let out a laugh I haven't heard since he left home. It made me feel so happy inside to hear that by me speaking German to him, his morale was lifted- just like that.*

He then asked me to sing it again, and then asked me about it in his e-mail the next day. He calls me tonight, so I have a feeling that this shall be brought up in our conversation once again! What a goof :)

CakeWrecks!

I am a fairly boring individual today. The supposedly gorgeous Texas weather has decided to become rainy, foggy, and drizzly, thus making me want to curl up in bed with a warm cup of hot chocolate! So, what does a person do when they become bored on a day like today? Go to http://www.cakewrecks.blogspot.com/, of course!!

I have taken the liberty of pulling a few of my favorite wrecks for y'all to see:

Wow. That's all I can say!

You're 12 today! Dream big!!

Better yet? Start them even earlier!!

Umm... Cosmo, can we have a talk?

I love Cosmopolitan Magazine. I have been reading it since Junior High, and it has consistently been one of the magazines I look forward to getting in my mailbox each month (well, aside from my Texas Monthly!) Fashion tips, sex advice, cosmo confessions- what's not to love, right? So, imagine my surprise when I go to pick up the latest issue from HEB here in Texas yesterday (yes, I purchased it since I am not in Japan and near my APO box,) and upon first glance I see this...

"Your Hoo-Ha Handbook??"
Get a Healthy, Sexy Vagina????

Wow. I thought for a second that I had mis-read the cover, so I went back for a second look... Nope. They actually said that?! Now, I am by no means a prude- trust me on this people, I love me some lovin' and if Mr. Top Gun were here he would probably have some story to tell y'all- but alas, he is not. I understand the importance of yearly GYN check-ups, and how crucial it is to maintain a healthy V-zone- but I don't think I need to be told by a magazine how to "Get a Healthy, Sexy Vagina..."  First of all, your v-zone is well, your own private area and second- since when have vaginas been "sexy?" Since when has it become the norm to glamourize your v-zone?? We all have them, we love them and that should be it. I appreciate the health tips, etc, but I surely don't want to know how to get a sexy vagina.

        Alright, I digress.

Yes, I have the best husband. It's true!

This morning I woke up feeling like complete and utter crap. You know how when you wake up in the middle of the night with that "oh god, I am getting sick feeling?" Yeah, that was me last night. I swear my fever and body aches came out of nowhere, and I spent the hours from 1-5 a.m. tossing and turning in an attempt to find a comfortable sleeping position. How did that go you ask? FAIL. HUGE FAIL. I finally passed out around 6:30, and woke up around 2:00 to the doorbell ringing- like crazy!

Normally, I would have ignored it but I figured it was probably the Fed ex man delivering some of my presents for family, and that answering the door would be a wise choice. * I happen to have a very deep love for my Fed ex man here during the holidays* So, I open the door looking like death and I am pretty sure the poor guy wanted to run the hell away from the house (I looked that scary- trust me...) In my sick and groggy fog, I am handed the most fabulous black and gold box with these letters written on it: FTD. Omg... who the hell is sending me flowers? Mr. Top Gun never has time to get on the slow ass internet over in the god forsaken place he is at, so I figured they may be from my Mil and Fil...

I open the box, and find these:
                                               * Picture taken in my Nana and Grandpa's House*

*My room at my Nana and Grandpa's house*

Wow. The dashing, debonair, and dangerously handsome man that I call my Husband happened to find the time to connect to the slow ass internet over there, order these stunning roses and send them to me! I also happened to receive the most take your breath away, leave you in tears card from him tucked inside. Now, if that isn't enough to make a girl feel like a million bucks and suddenly get over her sickness, then I don't know what is! Too bad he wasn't waiting outside behind the bushes right? Oh well, this deployment is over 1/2 way OVER!!
