Five for Friday

1. I LOVE how when you walked up the stairs this evening after work and saw me, the first thing you said was: "Wow. You are beautiful!"

2. I LOVE that you bought me the SUV I wanted yesterday, and how you didn't complain about driving my little Japanese car from now on.

3. I LOVE how you let me 'adopt' the homeless cat who has been sleeping on our porch, and how you let me feed him- knowing that we can never truly own him since he is wild, but you love how happy it makes me anyways. *BTW,* I named him Ludwig Von KatzenStein...

4. I LOVED the incredible foot rub and head massage you gave me!

5. I lOVE that you are helping me put together my outfit for the 80's party next weekend, even though you won't be back from your trip in time to go to it with me.

My Summer must haves!

What do I insist on having in my beauty repertoire for this upcoming summer, you ask? Well, in lieu of taking up an entire page or five, I have narrowed it down to my essentials! Trust me, it was HARD to do!

St. Ives Body Polish. Love this!! Use it in the shower, or use it an an awesome exfoliator for your hands. Plus, it contains no animal ingredients and is not tested on animals! Huge plus for me :)
And next we have the 'matching' body lotion. I have been a devoted St. Ives user since the 6th grade, and refuse to use any other lotion. Shocking coming from the girl who pays $20.00 for lip gloss and a few hundred for some cute shoes, right? It doesn't leave my skin feeling all tacky and greasy, and it smells great!
Ah, my Godsend called the PedEgg! Seriously, since moving to Okinawa, I have realized that my high heels have been replaced by flip-flops, and that wearing flip-flops all the time leads to my heels sometimes *Sometimes, ok people!* looking and feeling like nasty ass sandpaper. This is not a good thing. In comes the PedEgg, and with a few swipes over my heels, the nastyness is filed away!

Want your hair to smell like Heaven? Well, then use this! I stumbled across these at the BX *Gasp!* yes, the BX... I happened to have my good friend with me who actually insisted I purchase them, upon telling me how her husband goes crazy over the subtle yet delicious smell it leaves upon her hair. I bought it, came home and tried it, and then proceeded to shove my hair in Mr. Top Guns face and ask him to smell it. Verdict? He loved it!! This is the perfect shampoo/conditioner to use on a hot and sunny day, especially after time tanning or at the beach. It leaves my hair soft, yet volumized (and lord knows at my age I shall take any volume I can get!)
Burt's Bees. Utterly and completely addicted. Just take a mere look around my house, and one is sure to find a tube of the balm lying around. That includes every room in my home, too!
And last, but not least... My beloved Australian Gold tanning lotion! I really don't even need to use this since I tan super fast, (Mr. contributes it to my 'Mexican' genes) but I looove this stuff!! And besides, I do live on a tropical island and I spend a lot of time outside :)

Five for Friday

1. I LOVE that when you came to say goodbye to me this morning, you told me: "I am sweet on you today." Ahh!

2. I LOVE that even though you have to work on Saturday *Blah,* you told me you wanted me to come into work with you, so we could be together.

3. I LOVE how you make fun of my big ol' German feet, yet you never fuss at giving them a fabulous massage.

4. I LOVE how you folded and put away all of the laundry on Tuesday, after you had a ridiculously long day at work.

5. I LOVE that you took me to get Baskin Robbins last night, and then you looked over at the Dunkin Donuts and asked me if I wanted those too!

Five for Friday

I have decided to follow in the footsteps of one of my favorite fellow bloggers, Jessicalynn (jesstagirlandherofficer,) and post my own five for Friday now!

1. I LOVE how you woke me up this morning with a kiss, and told me I looked sweet (with my hair all over the place, and my sleep mask on...)

2. I LOVE that you picked up my migraine meds for me from the base today, even though you barely had time to eat lunch (or breathe, for that matter.)

3. I LOVE that you stood in the kitchen with me and watched me cook, while you told me about your day.

4. I LOVE how excited you were about me making you a delicious sandwich for lunch today!

5. I LOVE that I actually get a WHOLE weekend with you this week!! a full Friday night and Saturday- all day!! Sunday too!!

Dance, Okinawa, Dance!

This past weekend, Mr. and I attended a going away party for one of the other Flyboys in our Squadron. It was a wonderful gathering, and I made homemade guacamole and salsa! The wife of the Flyboy who is leaving has had the pleasure of working with some of the local nationals in her office, and they also happen to be part of a local Okinawan dance troupe. So, for her going away present, they performed some traditional dances and played the drums. Mr. and I had heard of these performances, but we have never had the time or chance to experience one up close and so personal. It did not disappoint! Although, by the end of the 20 minute performance both of our ears were ringing and I had a slight headache.

The young men who play the drums were AMAZING! I have no idea how they muster the strength to play so vigorously and with such passion too. Five minutes into the set, both of them were sweating, but smiling! The drums are covered in Habu Skin. Yes, Habu, as in the deadly Habu Viper here on Okinawa. Those snakes are super deadly, but it did make me kinda sad to see the skins used to cover the drums.

When did I become THAT old??

Umm, I think I got old overnight... The last I remembered, my 'little' Brother was a typical 21 year old college frat boy, who was more interested in partying and his BMW. The LAST thing he wanted was a girlfriend- someone who he had to be responsible for, care for and give his heart to. Well, I leave Texas and come back to Japan after the holidays, and all of a sudden this gorgeous girl pops up in his life...

I really didn't think anything of it at first, given my brother's track record with girls. He gets bored easily and he is super duper picky! That's a good thing though, because this girl he found is amazing! I am just so darn happy for him, and I hope he realizes that he really has found a true gem amongst a pile of rocks, and hangs on to her. The pictures below are from her sisters wedding they attended last weekend. I can't believe how tall and handsome my brother has become!!

So, dearest brother: Please stop growing up. I still remember you as my little baby in 'the pea pod' after I helped mom give you a bath. I miss you terribly, and can't wait until I can give you a big old hug! Love, your Top Gun Sister. PS- If you break miss R's heart, I am going to be extremely upset with you.

Easter with the Top Guns

Easter almost didn't happen this year... Well, I suppose it still would have occurred whether or not Mr. Top Gun was home or not, but it wouldn't have been the same without him! I got the call the night before from him saying that the plane had broken (what's new, right?) and that maintenance was working on it, but they were going to see how it went... The next morning I realize he in ONLINE, and just know he is not coming home in time and obviously not in his plane if he is on the internet either. He messages me and says the plane that came with the part that morning was BROKEN, and the plane en route to fix the broken plane who was supposed to replace the other broken plane had a fuel leak... I just see this all falling down, and figured he wouldn't be home.

That evening, I happen to pop onto facebook and notice that one of the other wives posted that she was going to pick her husband up. Hmm... her husband is with Mr. Top Gun, so that must mean he is coming home? YEP! Obviously, he did make it home in time for Easter and we were able to enjoy our first Easter away from home- and away from my Mom's incredible Easter Dinner *Sob, Sob*

Here is what the Top Gun's Easter spread tooked like:

On the Menu was:

Honey and Brown Sugar Glazed Ham
Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
Mrs. Top Gun's squash casserole
Asparagus, Beets and Baby corn with a dill vinaigrette dressing
Pinot Grigio 2007
Homemade Carrot Cake
